Rooted in Saskatchewan. Raised on Purpose.

Our Story

From pasture to plate, Quill Creek Farms is a generational family farm raising premium grass-fed bison, free-range Berkshire hogs, yaks and Speckle Park cattle in the heart of Canada. We’re proud to provide local food with integrity, sustainability, and heart.

What began in the early 1900s with Doug Griller’s grandfather has grown into a multi-site livestock business driven by passion and dedication. Doug and Anna Griller, along with their son, Blair, his wife Jodie, and grandkids Payton and Jorja run the farm in Saskatchewan.

Evolving from a mixed cattle and grain operation, Doug and Anna expanded into bison in 1996. In 2017, Berkshire hogs joined the family, alongside a custom-built provincially inspected abattoir. In 2020, they added a yak herd and shortly after began raising Speckle Park cattle.

With a diversified and ever-evolving business, the Grillers are a family that continues to be on the cutting edge of Saskatchewan livestock production.

Our ethics in action: Land to Market verified

Quill Creek Farms practices regenerative agriculture and is Land to Market verified through the Savory Institute. While organic certifications focus on inputs, Land to Market verification focuses on the outcome: measurable ecological benefits from production practices.

Land to Market uses Ecological Outcome Verification, a land monitoring protocol that measures soil health through organic matter content and soil structure; biodiversity through the presence of plants, insects, and wildlife; and ecosystem function in the water cycle and carbon cycling.

The Savory Institute sends technicians to our farm each year to take these measurements and report on improvements. When sustainable ideas become practical and outcomes are measured, we can be confident that our grazing systems steward the ecosystem our business relies on.
