Overview
PROVINCIALLY INSPECTED. TRUSTED QUALITY.
Quill Creek Farms operates under Saskatchewan’s Domestic Meat Inspection Program, ensuring every animal is inspected for safety and quality at every slaughter.Quill Creek Farms is a provincially inspected abattoir under Saskatchewan’s Domestic Meat Inspection Program. Provincial inspection is distinct from a health inspected facility: provincial inspections focus on the quality of the product, while health inspections focus primarily on the quality of the facility. Yearly facility-based inspections focus on cleanliness, temperature controls, and safe food handling practices similar to restaurants, while provincial inspections happen at every weekly slaughter at the Quill Creek Farms abattoir. Every animal is inspected by a provincially-licensed meat inspector who conducts testing for safety and quality. Further, procedural audits happen multiple times throughout the year, ensuring proper animal care and handling practices and expertise in any high-risk meat handling. The abattoir must pass multiple water tests throughout the year, whereas health inspected facilities test once per year. Quill Creek Farms is proud to ensure extremely high standards for meat quality and safety, whether it’s for our own bison, beef, pork or yak, or for our neighbours: small livestock producers, ranchers, and hunters.
